This is a log of books I've read (in rough reverse chronological order) and narrative podcasts I listen to (in... some sort of order). I started this site in februari 2024, so that's when this log starts too.
There's no full rating per book but I've marked my favourites/recommendations with a ⭐, you can control-F to find them️

Dungeon Crawler Carl (books 1 to 7) ⭐️
finished in feb & may
Venturing into the litrpg genre and thoroughly enjoying myself. Came for the silly dungeon mechanics and dumb jokes, stayed for the anti-capitalist rebellion and sheer fucked-upped-ness. The horror of this one creeps up on you, masked by all the jokes. Make no mistake, the horrors of wars are no less dreadful. Also, this reads fast and easy and is very entertaining. Waiting eagerly for book 8.
Dragon Age: Last Flight
finished in may
Speaking of fucked up! Oh boy! As someone with limited Dragon Age knowledge, this still read very well. An absolute tragedy. My fucking heart.
What Feasts at Night - T Kingfisher
finsihed in may
Sequel to What Moves the Dead. Somehow both heartwarming and deeply creepy. I live the characters, I love the worldbuilding, I love the monsters. Somewhat anticlimactic ending.
Lady Eve's Last Con (Rebecca Fraimow)

The Animorphs books, audio version at Animorphs Aloud
1-16 at some point early 2025.
I know I'm not the target audience, I know these books are showing their age. But boy, do they hold up when it counts. Delightful classic misfit band of friends becomes chosen protectors of earth by chance, featuring actually interesting alien biology, surprisingly horrible horrors of war, and teen drama.
The Lightning Thief
Finished around 26 februari.
I started reading this because I was enjoying the show and it did not disappoint. Enjoyable YA, snackable like popcorn. Will probably read more.
Dungeon Meshi (Ryoko Kui) ⭐️
Finished somewhere in March.
I'm obsessed. I enjoy the dungeon crawler setting, the loving food porn, the unexpected depths (both dungeon-wise and plot-wise). My favourite characters are Falin and Mithrun.
If Found, Return to Hell (Em X. Liu)
Finished 20 March, novella.
Absolutely fucking delightful. Left me with the warm fuzzies. I'm a sucker for found family, especially if there's some gay/gender shit going on. Love the worldbuilding too, would easily read more in this world.
The Paleontologist (Luke Dumas)
Finished 27 March.
Horror/murder mystery. Enjoyable little spooky dinosaur romp but it didnt blow me away. More on the mystery side than actually scary. I wish to gently shake the main character, geez. Enjoyed myself, overall.
Project Hail Mary (Andy Weir)
Finished 1 April.
I do enjoy some near-future (or alt present) space mishaps. I liked the Martian, this one scratched the same itch.
Witch King (Martha Wells) ⭐️
Finished April 14.
I love Martha Wells and I loved this. It made me feel some hard to describe emotions... Mostly melancholy for things I don't understand and haven't experienced. This books feels like a partial eulogy for someone I don't know but still mourn for. Gonna have to sit with that for a while. I enjoyed how it just... didn't explain so many things.
The Splinter in the Sky (Kemi Ashing-Giwa) ⭐️
Finished April 22
Lovely political intrigue anti imperialist sci-fi, with similar vibes as the Teixcalaan or Imperial Radch series. Love that slow burn.
Artemis (Andy Weir)
Finished April 24
Another fun sci-fi romp with improvised science.
A Theory of Haunting (Sarah Monette)
Finished April 27
Novella, horror, haunted house. This one was legitimately scary. Enough left vague for it to be very menacing. It's left me with a disquieting sense of being watched. The language use is very rich and dense.
The Salvation Gambit (Emily Skrutskie)
Finished June 13
Delightful little heist/action sci-fi novel. We've got an untrustworthy AI, we've got a weird space cult, we've got criminal main characters. Oh, and lesbians. Great fun!
Lady Eve's Last Con (Rebecca Fraimow)
Did not finish in 2024, started in November
What Manner of Man (St John Starling)
Did not finish in 2024, started in November
Someone You Can Build a Nest In (John Wiswell) ⭐️️
Finished December
Beautiful monstrous sapphic love! Sort of. We've got body horror, a delightful main character, more body horror, coming to terms with abusive families, learning to love in one's own way, and some more body horror. I loved it.
Song of Achilles (Madeline Miller)
finished November
I listened to the audio book. This is one that's been recommended many times and I finally got around to it. Despite knowing how it would end, it still punched me in the feels.
Note, this is far from all the podcasts I listen to. This is a selection, and only the narrative/fiction ones.
The Adventure Zone: Balance
Status: completed
Listened to this as it came out which is some time ago now. I'm putting it on the list because it was and it very important to me.
Very silly at times, surprising gutpunch to the feels. made me laugh, made me cry. I also cosplayed Lup.
The Magnus Archives/the Magnus Protocol
Status: archives is completed, protocol is ongoing
Ceaseless watcher-I mean, listener? I love the story of the week format with a red thread tying everything together. Also, there's gay? I'm instantly more invested.
The White Vault
Status: completed to season 5
Very interesting world building. Almost lovecraftian, with a touch of worldwide conspiracy. Also I love a claustrophobic setting like in the first few seasons.
Malevolent
Status: ongoing
Well, there sure is some sort of tension going on. More explicitly lovecraftian, with a fun two-people-piloting-one-body gimmick. Would make an interesting TTRPG hook.
Derelict
Status: Fathom is completed, Derelict is ongoing
Space horror! Unknowable entities! Airlock mishaps!
