Here you go, a journal type page. styling subject to changes (I have high ambitions). For now, click the headers to open an entry.
Been a little while! My creative hyperfocus seems to wax and wane for specific subjects. Like this site! That doesn't mean I'll stop updating, just that it'll come and go. Sometimes unpredictably.
Lately I've been tired. So tired. I've been playing Baldur's Gate 3 (local coop!) and doing some creative fandom stuff based on it, which is very fun.
It's november now, formerly known as nanowrimo month. I'm not going to be participating in any official nanowrimo stuff because of... the clusterfuck. Should I expand on the clusterfuck?
Anyway, I'd still like to do some writing this month. Even if it's only a little bit.
I've been wanting to put aome original creative stuff on here but 1) I havent been writing too much and 2) I'm kind of searching for what format, what topic, what kind of thing I'd like to do, and would work well on a site like this.
So, some thoughts! Wild rambles, etc.
One thing is hosting some original fiction on here, of which I do have some. Mostly old stuff, but maybe having it pass under my grubby little typing fingers will shake something new loose. I might like to format it as a little... online zine, with illustrations or weird layouts/fonts, that could ve very fun.
I'd also like to play more with the possibilities/limits of this being a site. There's a lot of things specifically I can do with that, like click through perspectives, little hidden secrets, mouseover, who knows.
To take that to the extreme: a twine game? I've played around with twine before and it's very fun, but I haven't exactly got a ✨️concept✨️ or something specific, just the vague thought that some sort of something in twine would be cool.
I usually get stuck, with narrative pursuits, in the exact plot and tension arc. I love making worlds and characters but like... then what? Maybe I could start with an experimental form first and see what kind of narrative develops? I've noticed I like chomping down on a concrete technical challenge. I'd like to have a broad idea of what I'm doing though.
Maybe I'll focus on twine for now. How about some sort of coming of age story in my DIIMRE world, I can work with that and it's not too big. Actually, that sounds like a lot of fun. Can be real sort of spiritual too.
Alternatively/additionally, I've been really into the extended Star Wars lore lately and I'd love to do something with that.
Much to think about c: Signing off.
So I added a character page and I'm just trying to think of what all I want to put in there. I think I might just decide on a case by case basis.
Also, this has really made me miss poor Atteree! They had such amazing potential, and we made up a lot of cool bugbear lore. Maybe I'll write some of that down here? The campaign Atteree was in stalled due to covid shit and a player dropping out, but we've rebooted it with a different cast (mostly the same players, different characters, time skip).
I also noticed a few trends in characters. Notably, I seem to prefer jack of all trades classes with at least some casting (druid x2, warlock, bard). And all of my characters have a slightly off-putting element... interesting.
(Oh also Wunna does not actually have little wolf ears but I wanted something... druidy?)
I intend to use this page as a journal of sorts, so let's go! Writing this reminds me of the old livejournal days. A shame there's no comment section.
I'm having a lot of fun with this neocities thing, just tacking things on like a big rambling lego build. An extra page here, a slightly different colour there.
Things from the wrbsite to do things that are now done (or done enough to take them off the list):
I would like to make some more graphics myself as well, but I can't do that as easily on my phone. Yes, I do much of this on my phone. Yes, that's a terrible idea. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Some stuff I may like to make: a dunmesh banner, some D&D graphics (d20s and stuff), maybe an animated d20 gif...
Right, uh, signing off. See ya, space cowboy.
